JK Rowling first had an idea of Harry Potter while delayed on a train travelling from Manchester to London King’s Cross in 1990. Over next five years, she began to plan out seven books of the series. After publishing the books JK got many letters from fans and the books have since broken many records.
In 2007 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows became the fastest-selling book ever, selling 2.65 million copies in first 24 hours in UK.
With 7 books, 8 movie parts and other Harry Potter merchandise. The Harry Potter brand has an estimated worth of $15 billion.
Harry Potter novel was rejected by 22 publishers before being picked up.
First five years Rowling spent on Harry Potter novel’s rules, about what her characters could and could not do.
JK Rowling wrote five pages of words beginning with the letter Q before deciding upon Quidditch, she designed the game in small hotel room in Manchester after rowing with her then-boyfriend.
The first Harry Potter book was published in 1998 in U.S, the same year of the final battle of Hogwarts was fought, JK Rowling has said “I open at the close”. If you remember, this line was written on quidditch’s golden snitch.
JK Rowling plotted Ron Weasley as a character who curses a lot but the publisher of the novel told Rowling that the novel wouldn’t be suitable for young audience, so we need to remove the bad language.

I drool whenever I see Harry Potter film’s food buffet. All the food you see in great hall scenes in Sorcerer’s Stone in 100% real. Director Chris Columbus wanted to capture the elaborate feasts from the books perfectly and he definitely did. But due to those hot studio lights the food spoiled very easily and the food smelled very bad, that’s why for future Harry Potter movies they froze the food and created molds to make the fake food which will look more realistic.
While filming Prisoner of Azkaban, Draco’s (Tom Felton) Hogwarts robes had their pockets shut because he kept trying to sneak food onto the set.

Ronald Weasley (Rupert Grint) has an actual serve case of arachnophobia, so he didn’t have to do much acting, the scene where he and Harry met Aragog.
Snape (Alan Rickman) wore black contact lenses for his role as Snape. Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell didn’t know this fact when he commented on Alan’s amazing eye color, and Alan surprised him by popping out his lenses.
Nicholas Flamel the wizard, who discovered Philosopher’s Stone, was actually a real person. The real Flamel lived in Paris in 1300’s and was rumored to be an alchemist who discovered an alchemical substance that will turn any base metal like mercury into gold or silver.

The name Harry Potter was mentioned 18,956 times in the whole series.
While filming the seven Harry’s scene in Deathly Hallows part 1 was very tough for Daniel. Daniel counted over 96 takes just for that single shot.
Harry broke 80 wands while filming the entire series. Because he had a habit of using wand as drumsticks.
Harry went through 160 pairs of prop glasses by the end of the series.
There were over 1000 bottles in the potion classroom each was labeled with different names, the names were too small in letter that we cannot see them clearly on screen.
Harry Potter’s scar was applied on Daniel’s face over 2000 times during filming the entire series.
In the order of the Phoenix the code to enter into telephone booth for Ministry of Magic is 62442.
While filming the whomping willow scene 14 Ford Anglias were wrecked in the filming of the scene where Ron and Harry crashed into the whomping willow.

Draco (Tom Felton) had not read any of the books before auditioning for the role Draco Malfoy.
Draco originally auditioned for both Harry Potter and Ron Weasley but the casting team thought he would be more suitable for Draco.
The name Voldemort came from French words meaning, flying from death.
The actor who played young Tom Riddle is actually related to the actor who played Voldemort, Phineas Tiffin (young Tom) is actually Ralph Phineas’ nephew.
